Day 01 Calicut
Our representative will receive you on your arrival at Calicut Airport / Railway Station and proceed to Wayanad after visiting Kappad Beach. Kappad Beach is a historically significant beach in Kozhikode (Calicut), Kerala, India. It gained prominence as the landing site of the Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama in 1498. This event marked the beginning of the maritime spice trade route between Europe and Asia.
The beach is known for its scenic beauty, with golden sands and the Arabian Sea stretching out in front. There is a small stone monument called the Kappad Beach Monument, commemorating Vasco da Gama's arrival, which you can find on the beach. The area around Kappad Beach is also home to coconut groves and lush greenery. Overnight stay in Wayanad.
Day 02: Wayanad
After breakfast proceed for local sightseeing of Wayanad. Visit Edakkal Caves, known for its prehistoric rock carvings and panoramic views. These caves are famous for their prehistoric carvings and paintings, which date back to the Neolithic era, making them one of the oldest human settlements in the region. Edakkal Caves are situated around 25 kilometers from Kalpetta, the district headquarters of Wayanad. The caves are situated on Ambukuthi Hills at an altitude of 1,200 meters above sea level. The caves are accessible by a moderately challenging trek of about 1.5 to 2 kilometers, which takes approximately 45 minutes to an hour. Visiting Edakkal Caves offers a unique and immersive experience, combining history, nature, and breathtaking views. It's a must-visit for those interested in archaeology and ancient civilizations.
Later visit Kuruva Island. Kuruva Island, nestled in Kerala's Wayanad district, is a lush haven formed by the Kabini River. Accessible via bamboo rafts, this biodiverse paradise boasts dense forests, meandering trails, and vibrant birdlife. Regulated visitor numbers and a ban on plastics contribute to preserving the island's pristine ecology, making it an ideal nature retreat.
Later visit Pookode Lake. Pookode Lake is a serene freshwater lake surrounded by lush greenery. Boasting scenic beauty, it offers boat rides with views of the surrounding hills. Day 03. Wayanad - Calicut
After breakfast check out from the Hotel and drive to Calicut airport/Railway station for the onward Journey.
